A Session: What to expect?
I think for many of us having our pictures taken comes with some anxiety, that whole feeling of not knowing what to expect or what to do. I do have a session overview on my site that potential client’s can view to get an idea of the process but thought I would give a bit more of a candid overview here!
All sessions I do are on-location throughout the Greater Toronto Area. This allows you to have a session at your home, a park, a funky downtown location … really the sky is the limit. Now what if you don’t have a great location in mind and just can’t figure one out?? Well don’t let that stop you from booking a session. All I need to know is what type of feel you would like your images to have or a particular style you would like to see captured and I can suggest many locations that I have used and love. So whether its a fun family session that you’d like to see in a park setting or a child’s session with a bit more of an urban appeal a perfect location is available!!
One of the comments I hear often is “But I don’t have a fancy, interesting, fill in the blank type of house” so I can’t do a session here. To any of you thinking this very thing I ask that you to keep an open mind. You would be incredibly surprised how interesting your home really is … locations you may not have considered could be the perfect setting for pictures to be taken: The parents bed, a nursery or child’s room, the kitchen or even your front doorway can all lend themselves to creative and beautiful images of your children or family.
I often mention that I prefer sessions to have a unstructured, relaxed approach. Now this doesn’t mean that you will be left wondering what to do, where to go etc. I am happy to suggest interesting settings within your home or chosen location where various looks can be achieved. Images will have a variety of looks as well … sometimes I will simply follow and interact with a toddler and capture very candid moments. But I may also ask the family to pile onto a couch or big bed for a fun series of family shots … the reactions and moments are still natural and fun, with just a touch of direction.
I will from time to time be adding to this “what to expect” line of thinking … I hope this allows you to have a better understanding of the inner workings at Meghan Liddle Photography. And remember always feel free to drop me an email or phone call and I will answer any questions you may have!
Oh and stay tuned for some “then and now” additions to the blog as a couple of my newborn gallery babies are turning 6 months old!!!

Meghan Liddle Photography
I am so very excited to expand my Toronto children’s photography business into the “tech age” with a blog. For those of you who are new to Meghan Liddle photography, let me tell you a bit about my philosophy. As a photographer, I strive to capture images for you to cherish and remember for many years to come. During each session I am focused and creating a comfortable environment for my subjects and interacting with them in a way that draws out their unique personalities… to me, that is the way real moments are preserved. There is nothing that I love more than to see an image of a new dad staring at their gorgeous sleeping newborn, a toddler laughing and snuggling with their mom or seeing a beautiful, real family interaction frozen perfectly in time. Its also the reason you will see me lying on the floor interacting with a toddler or talking to a 3 year old about their favorite “Wonder Pets” episode … I want them to be confortable with me and to be themselves, because that is what makes an image truly beautiful. It’s not about getting the perfect smile or having the right outfit, it’s about preserving a moment that illustrates the true personality of your little one.
Each time I present a family with their finished images there is no greater joy for me in photography than to hear that the images allowed their child’s personality to shine through and that the parents are in love with each image because of that. So there you have it … for me it really is all about preserving these special moments for many years to come.
